Creating sustainable development prospects with the aim of the sustainability of Tinos
What is?
Batiki
“Batiki is the rent paid by the farmer who rents a field from his owner, to cultivate it for him or to produce food for his animals. Tinos for us is a field that we have rented from our children and for the which we have to contribute the batiki (rent) we have been charged, in order to hand it over to the next generation more fertile and more fruitful”
Purpose
The "Batiki" has as its main purpose:
On one hand, serving social needs of a local and wider nature with the production of products and the provision of services, which aim to reconcile production and consumption.
On the other hand, the harmonization of supply with demand and the formation of a new type of social relations based on collectivity and equality and not on competition.
Vision
Tinos, the creation of an island - model.
Tinos meets all conditions for this
Tinos, if we start today, has the time to make a difference
Tinos has permanent residents who want to continue living on the island
The need for action
Against this trend of mass consumption, uncontrolled ‘overflow’ and the need to maintain quality – harmony with nature and respect for history, “Batiki” emerged, guided by the principles of SUSTAINABILITY and SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT. Our basic philosophy states that Tinos for us is a piece of land that we have rented from our children and for which we have to contribute the “batiki” (rent) that we have been charged, so that we can hand it over to the next generation more fertile and more fruitful.
